There were a few developments of note this week in the sale of the Coyotes to Matthew Hulsizer.
We'll start with the good news: Glendale residents finally spoke out in support of their Mayor and her efforts to get the Coyotes deal done. One Glendale resident said: “We trust the mayor, the council and city staff in every other aspect of the operation of Glendale, and we should trust them here,” said Gail Meyers. “It would be a giant step backward for Glendale if this deal doesn’t go through." Mayor Scruggs also announced to those in attendance at the meeting that the bonds were on the market and we're just waiting for them to sell. The deal is expected to close soon.
The bad news: The Goldwater Institute has officially announced their intent to file suit once the deal is completed.
Radio Show: Coyotes Coaliton Vice President Monique Reaux and myself are going to be in the studio today for the Breakthrough Sports radio show on KXXT 1010 AM. We've got a great show planned so I hope you'll all be able to tune in from 2-4 (AZ time) this afternooon. We'll be dissecting the Darcy Olsen interview from last week's show and giving our thoughts on it. Rebekah Sanders of the Arizona Republic will be calling in during the first hour. Rebekah has been covering the Coyotes situation since the team was first put into bankruptcy by the previous owner in 2009.
At 3:00pm we'll be speaking with NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly and getting his thoughts on the situation. We will also be hearing from Coyotes Vice President of Marketing & Communications - Jim Brewer - who will be calling in to discuss the actual hockey and the team's success as of late.
The hosts are working to get some legal minds lined up as call-in guests today as well to help us dissect the Gift Clause and attempt to determine what we are up against if Goldwater files suit.
It will definitely be a show you don't want to miss!
Greg & Dave Isaac, who host the show - welcome Coyotes supporters to come down to the studio if you would like. You are also welcome to call in with questions or comments as well.
