Fill In The Blank & Fawk You Friday!

1.   My most prized possession is: the puck Dan Carcillo threw me at one of my first Coyotes practices. It's a travesty that I was never able to get him to sign it. First trip to a different NHL arena will be Philly!

2.  If I could be one age for the rest of my life, I would want to be: I thoroughly enjoyed 25. Not too old - not too young. It was the perfect age. I'd stay there if I could. Unfortunately I'm now 6 years past it. Blech... but 31 isn't so bad either really!

3.  The best way to spend a weekend is: getting as much rest as possible, not having to work on Saturdays, tailgating with friends and Coyotes games. Then post game shenanigans at Village Inn :)

4.  My outlook on life is: All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at school.

These are the things I learned:
  • Share everything.
  • Play fair.
  • Don't hit people.
  • Put things back where you found them.
  • Clean up your own mess.
  • Don't take things that aren't yours.
  • Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
  • Wash your hands before you eat.
  • Flush.
  • Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
  • Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
  • Take a nap every afternoon.
  • When you go out in the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together.
  • Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: the roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
  • Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup - they all die. So do we.
  • And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned - the biggest word of all - LOOK.
Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and equality and sane living.

Take any one of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or government or your world and it holds true and clear and firm. Think what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world - had cookies and milk at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap. Or if all governments had as a basic policy to always put things back where they found them and to clean up their own mess.

And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out in the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.
{credit - nope. didn't come up with that on my own!}

5.  If you want to annoy me, just:
  • Make loud chewing noises while you eat.
  • Put cilantro in anything
  • Put cilantro in my food after I SPECIFICALLY told you not to. I don't care how small the amount, how finely chopped... I CAN STILL TASTE IT!
  • Passive aggressively tell me that something annoys you about me. Just say it.
  • Yell at me for being late. I always warn people. "I am invariably late for appointments...." I operate on Heather Time - which varies and is unlike anyone else's time. I've tried to mend my ways but it simply doesn't work. I'm just always friggin' running late!
6.  I am completely defenseless when it comes to: I am never completely defenseless. One of my strong points is my mental capacity. Life is about choices - sometimes I make the wrong ones, but I own up to those. Sometimes I make the right ones and I own up to those as well. But we always have a choice...

7.  When dressing for the day one should: never leave the house without pants on.

  2. Hi - popped by via your other blogs. And the hop. Following and happy to. 38 isn't so bad either - I'd hate to BE 25 again, though I'd like to look as I did at 32 - I looked my best then for some reason? Its been downhill from there (yet I'm the happiest I've ever been now) ?? Shah from wordsinsync. X

  3. I would choose 20. I loved that age!! Not quite an adult so people couldn't expect too much but past a kid.

I totally agree with the sand pit thoughts. I am a teacher and constantly say that we teach chn the values of life. Yes, we teach them about how write a story, to multiply but it's those basic 'rules' which you carry with you the rest of your life. Great post!!

I am like you definitly with the lateness. I don't do it on purpose I just seem to have this think where I can't get sorted. I am on time until I am ablout to leave then I have to check the windows are shut, then I've forgot something, then I check somethings unplugged etc etc. Then I'm late haha!!

Just stopped by from FTLOB! Have a great day!

  6. @Branson killin' me!!! Cilantro is the root of all evil! ;) 31 isn't bad at all - I've enjoyed it quite a bit so far!

@Shah welcome! I'm happy you found me! I intend to make my 30's the most memorable years of my life!

@Missy 20 was awkward for me - it was a very transitional year for me. But I suppose that's not the age's fault... LOL You're a teacher? That's so cool! Thanks for all you do to help the youth!!! As for the lateness... I always try to be on time... it just never works that way!!! AHHH!!!

@Karen thank you - I will tell the heel spurs "Fawk You" from you right now - as they had me clinging to the side of the bed this morning not wanting to put pressure on them fully... UGH!

@Kim hello - and welcome!!! I hope you have a great weekend as well!

  9. I agree with you, if there is something you don't like about me or you just don't want anything to do with me then please just tell me and I will leave you alone...
Even though being 31 is nice, I still wish I could go back to being 27 again. Just out of school and able to make other choices about whether or not to move to the states.
